Hello, to my friends and neighbors in the City of Walker. My name is Steven Gilbert, and I am a lifelong resident of the City of Walker. I was first elected to the
City Commission in 2017 and proudly served as Walker's Mayor Pro Tem from 2019 to 2026. I am a graduate of Kenowa Hills High School and Grand Valley State University. I am happily married and live with my wife and our daughter in Walker's first ward. Professionally, I work for Corewell Health as a member of their Government Relations and Public Policy team.
In addition to my role on the City Commission, I serve the people of Walker on the following boards and in the following roles:
- Ordinance Committee (Chair)
- Mobility & Infrastructure Committee (Chair)
- Finance Committee (Vice-Chair)
- Mineral Mining Review Board
- Emergency Planning Committee
- The Rapid Board of Directors
- Kent County Waste Management Advisory Committee
As a City Commissioner, I hope to maintain our strong business climate and continue the thriving, purposeful development of our city. I want to ensure that residents and families in Walker have access to roads, bridges, and infrastructure that are dependable and well maintained, and I believe that supporting and investing in our public safety team is vital for the health, safety, and security of our city.
If you should ever need anything from me, please do not hesitate to contact me by calling or texting 616-828-7763 or by email.
