Welcome to Walker! 
Established in 1963, the Walker Police Department, a Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police Accredited Agency, proudly serves the City of Walker, Michigan. Road patrol officers operate on a set rotation of 12-hour shifts, alternating between two-day and two-night squads. The city serves a vibrant community with a population of more than 25,000, spread over 25.48 square miles. This area includes parts of US-131 and I-96 and encompasses various retail, industry, residential, and agriculture sectors.

Mission Statement
The primary mission of the Walker Police Department is to protect life and property and enhance the quality of life of the citizens of this community through the enforcement of the law and by creating a partnership with the members of this community to facilitate the common goal.
Fingerprinting
Fingerprinting is done by appointment only. Appointments are available on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8 am to 10 am. To schedule an appointment, call Officer Stahr at (616) 791-6830 or email her at jstahr@walker.city.
Crash Reports
If you've been involved in a traffic crash in the City of Walker and would like a copy of the report, you can purchase one by visiting the State of Michigan's Traffic Crash Purchasing System (TPS). You may also obtain one in person by visiting the Walker Police Department.
Gun Permits
For a fee, a license to purchase a pistol can be completed at our department, Monday-Thursday (8 am – 4 pm) or Friday (8 -11 am). If you are a non-Walker resident applying for a gun permit, there will be a 24-72 hour delay in issuance as a background check must be obtained from your local jurisdiction.
